Many of us dream of the big fairy-tale wedding with all the glitz and glamour of a movie production.
But, consider a small, intimate ceremony with just those guests who mean the most to you. Aside from the obvious cost factor, small weddings have many advantages. There is a charm and warmth to small ceremonies.
My definition of a small wedding is one that has 40 people or fewer in attendance. Having a smaller group at your wedding allows for extra options regarding your selection of reception venue. There is the option of hiring a room in a restaurant, hiring a café, gallery, wine bar, gardens, nightclub or even having your wedding catered for at home. It is incredibly special having an intimate wedding at a place that is meaningful to the couple.
In this crazy Covid climate, where a limited number of guests are allowed at your wedding, you are provided with the perfect excuse to cull your invites to only those guests you really want at your wedding. No need to invite relatives you have never met, just because they are family.
Many couples today are paying for their own wedding, or a big part thereof, so any savings are greatly appreciated. Obviously the fewer the guests, the lower the cost of catering. This savings can go towards other aspects of your wedding, your honeymoon or even into your house deposit savings or home loan repayments.
A small wedding still allows all of the elements of its larger counterpart. You can still have wonderful flowers, a cake, great vendors, and food and all the other things that are important to you.
With only a small number of guests the couple has the opportunity to connect and celebrate with their guests individually. Imagine having 150 guests at your wedding and attempting to connect with them all. You would not be able to have quality time chatting and celebrating with your guests as you make a determined effort to speak with everyone, even if briefly. A small wedding allows you to create wonderful memories with every single guest there.
Think about having a small wedding, it has big advantages!
Happy wedding planning!
